Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q: What exactly is this zine about?
A: This is a zine all about the No More Heroes franchise! We plan to showcase a variety of work with characters from across the whole series.
Q: What’s the timeline looking like?
A: You can find our timeline in our About Section.
Q: What kind of work will you be looking to feature?
A: We will primarily feature page artists but will also showcase a few writers and cosplayers, along with a handful of merch artists.
Q: Is this going to be physical or digital?
A: We plan on making both! We’re also making merch rewards alongside the physical version.
Q: What charity will you be donating to, and what are you keeping for yourself?
A: We haven’t decided on a charity yet, but one will be chosen and announced before preorders open. Some of the profits made from preorders will go to covering all production costs, but the rest will be donated to the chosen charity! As of right now, we plan to choose a charity for Palestine aid.

Contributors

Q: Is there a minimum age for contributors?
A: Yes; since No More Heroes is a rated M series, we require that all contributors are 18 years or older before applications close. We know this may be disappointing, but we hope you understand our decision.
Q: Will contributors be paid?
A: No; since this zine is for-charity, contributors and moderators will not receive any profit. That being said, contributors will receive a digital copy of the zine and will have the option to purchase a physical copy at the cost of production and shipping.
Q: What will each of the roles be expected to submit for the project?
A: Page artists will each submit a full page illustration. Merch artists will submit (at least) one design for a type of merch of their choice. Writers will be in charge of each writing a SHORT oneshot that’s connected to one of the four games. Lastly, cosplayers will be expected to submit photo(s) of a cosplay for a character of their choice.
Q: Will I be able to choose what I create?
A: Contributors will have a good bit of freedom as to what they create, but please note that there WILL be restrictions placed. Since we don’t want everyone to wind up drawing the same few characters, there will be limits as to how many times a character is drawn (these limits will be higher for recurring characters). If you are applying as a merch artist, you will be able to choose what type of merch you create, but note that since we want different items (both physical and digital) artists will need to decide amongst themselves who will do what types. Writers will be able to select which game(s) they want to write for in the application, and upon acceptance will be assigned one of those games by the mod team. Cosplayers will be asked to choose which character(s) they are interested in cosplaying during the application, and the mod team will then approve this upon acceptance.
Q: Am I allowed to apply for multiple positions?
A: Yes, but please keep in mind that contributors may only be accepted for one role. This is so that we can accept a greater number of people. The only exception to this is cosplay, as we are expected to have a much smaller number of cosplay submissions.
Q: Since this zine is for creators that are 18+, what’s the stance on NSFW content?
A: A good rule of thumb is that pieces should not be any more extreme than the series itself. This means no excessive/overly graphic gore and nudity. If you’re curious about your piece being too much in either of these categories, feel free to ask the mods.
Q: I’m interested in applying as an artist, but I don’t have that much No More Heroes art! Do I need to have some to submit?
A: It’s preferred that you submit at least one NMH piece, but it’s not absolutely necessary. We mostly want you to submit work that you feel is representative of your current style.
Q: Will original characters and AUs be allowed?
A: As much as we would like to, this zine is most likely going to be jam-packed as is, so we’d like people to stick to canon as much as possible. Accepted artists will receive more information on what is and what is not allowed.
Q: What kinds of page art will be allowed?
A: In terms of medium, anything is allowed! If physical art, we ask that you provide high quality scans and/or photographs. 3D renders are also allowed as long as the featured models are your own. As for subject matter, all we ask is that at least one character is featured in your piece. If you have an idea that doesn't feature anyone, please ask the mod team.
Q: I’m applying as a merch artist. Do I need to provide pictures of physical merch I’ve produced? And will I need to produce my own merch for this project?
A: No, product mockups and digital drawings are fine to submit. If you have photos of physical merch though, you’re free to submit. As for the second part, the mod team will be handling all item production, so you won’t have to worry about that.
Q: I’m interested in submitting as a cosplayer, do I have to make a new cosplay?
A: No, although you’re welcome to if you’d like. You’re allowed to use a preexisting cosplay of yours, but we ask that any photos submitted are newly taken with the intent of being featured in this zine.
